IMA’s 20th Annual Salary Survey
Despite the economic crisis, IMA’s 20th Annual Salary survey indicates that professionals holding IMA’s CMA certification have greater earning power – 24% higher in salary and 31% higher in total compensation – than their noncertified colleagues. These findings appear in the June 2009 issue of IMA’s
Strategic Finance.

IMA Committees' Response to SEC Roadmap for IFRS use by U.S. Companies
IMA’s Financial Reporting and Small Business Committees submitted comment letters to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in response to its proposed roadmap for the use of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) by U.S. Companies. Comments were due on April 20, 2009.

COSO Elects New Chairman

The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) of the Treadway Commission has elected David L. Landsittel, CPA as its new chairman. Jeff Thomson, IMA’s President and CEO, took the lead in the organization’s search for the Chairman’s position.

Research Center of Excellence

 

The IMA Research Center of Excellence (COE) is focused on delivering research, best practices, and tools for practitioners in accounting and finance who are involved in decision support, planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and internal control over financial reporting. In addition to the Foundation for Applied Research (FAR), the CoE is composed of five research practices:

Publications Strategic Finance-  IMA's award-winning monthly magazine, for trends in finance and accounting and for ideas on how to help your company and your career. Subscriptions are included in members' dues and are also available to nonmembers. Strategic Finance is now available in digital format.

IMA Online News- is IMA’s general membership e-newsletter. Published twice a month, IMA Online News features three interactive sections, communicating the latest News from IMA, Industry News, and Local Chapter & Council News and Events. 

CMA Connection- is a bi-monthly electronic newsletter designed exclusively for IMA’s Certified Management Accountants members (CMA®s) and candidates. Our goals for this publication are to help CMAs and candidates stay connected with each other and IMA®, and to provide support to those preparing to take the exam. We hope to create a sense of community among those professionals best suited for working inside organizations.

Campus Connection- is a bi-monthly electronic newsletter prepared exclusively for IMA student and academic members. Each issue features original content on IMA news specifically relevant to students and academics, including information about scholarships, awards and competitions, learning resources, and more. 

Career Connection- is published bi-monthly for IMA’s young professional members and those just entering the field at any age. External Relations  Like all associations, IMA is committed to building relationships and developing professional partnerships. The purpose of these relationships is to better assist our members in discovering the characteristics of the management accounting and finance professions.
  • IMA is one of the five founding organizations of the Committee on Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) established in the late 1980s by a government commission called the Treadway Commission.
  • The National Academy Foundation was created as a partnership between business leaders and educators to address the need to prepare students for professional careers. NAF serves over 50,000 students in over 500 Academies in 41 states and the District of Columbia in urban schools through small learning communities.
  • IMA supports The PhD Project, a unique diversity initiative that encourages African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native American to pursue a Ph.D. in business and serve as role models and mentors for minority business students.
