IMA’s 20th Annual Salary Survey
Despite the economic crisis, IMA’s 20th Annual Salary survey indicates that professionals holding IMA’s CMA certification have greater earning power – 24% higher in salary and 31% higher in total compensation – than their noncertified colleagues. These findings appear in the June 2009 issue of IMA’s

IMA Committees' Response to SEC Roadmap for IFRS use by U.S. Companies
IMA’s Financial Reporting and Small Business Committees submitted comment letters to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in response to its proposed roadmap for the use of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) by U.S. Companies. Comments were due on April 20, 2009.

COSO Elects New Chairman

The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) of the Treadway Commission has elected David L. Landsittel, CPA as its new chairman. Jeff Thomson, IMA’s President and CEO, took the lead in the organization’s search for the Chairman’s position.

President-Gregg Rose

Gregg joined the Peninsula-Palo Alto chapter of the IMA in 1990. He is the current chapter President. He served two year as V. P. of Education 2006-8, Regional Council Rep 2006-9. His article on Self-Direct 401(k) plan was published in Strategic Finance Magazine. Gregg is a Senior Financial Analyst for Silicon Valley High-Tech firms since the 1990. Before that, he was a Financial Analyst for pension & investment analysis firm. He enjoys Sales Operations accounting because of the variety of challenges & issues coming up ever new quarter. He attended Lynbrook High School, before receiving Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentration in Finance, from San Jose State University. He is moderator for C-Six Finance networking group in San Jose area.


Secretary-Robert Beaseley, MBA

Bob became a member of the Peninsula-Palo Alto Chapter of the IMA in 2003. After a two-year stint as chapter president from 2006-2008, Bob will continue on the board in a official role as Secretary and unofficially as 'provider of unsolicited advice'to the rest of the board. Prior to becoming chapter president, he had served as concurrently as VP of Education (2005-06), Secretary (2004-06) and the Director of Newsletter (2003 to present) under past president Ken Kobylenski. A long time veteran of the semiconductor industry, Bob's area of work concentration is in cost accounting and Financial Planning Analysis. A local product, Bob grew up in Sunnyvale and graduated from Fremont High before receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration,concentration in Accounting from San Jose State University. After a couple of years in the working world, he attended the night time MBA program at Santa Clara University, starting the program the week of the birth of his first child and finishing the week of the birth of the second. Bob and his wife, Anna, have been married for 27 years and have three children, Robert III, age 23, Caitlin, age 19 and Victoria, age 13. A resident of Morgan Hill, Bob enjoys football Go Spartans and Go Niners, visiting the two oldest children at college in southern California, working out at the local gym, and spending time with friends and family.


Treasurer-Patricia Huang, MBA

Patricia has been a member of the IMA, Peninsula-Palo Alto Chapter since 1994. This is the first year Patricia is joining the board of the Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. She had a broad experience in various aspects of corporate financial management. She worked in high tech industry, such as Raychem and Applied Materials; she also worked in regional banks industry, such as Silicon Valley Bank. She has extensive experience in accounting and financial analysis; good exposure of SOX compliance, process reengineering and ERP implementation. Patricia lives in Cupertino and enjoys hiking and traveling. Patricia has an MBA, Santa Clara University and BS in Economics, Soo Chow University.


VP Administration-Mick Nissen

Mick has over 20 years of broad-based accounting experience in small, medium and large business organizations including manufacturing, retail, wholesale, professional services and hospitality. Mick has been a club controller for the past 10 years holding that position at exclusive bay area clubs such as Palo Alto Hills Golf Country Club, La Rinconada Country Club and currently Sharon Heights Golf Country Club. Mick has been a member of IMA for over 10 years and has served as VP of Administration for the Peninsula/Palo Alto chapter since 2007. Mick grew up in the Midwest spending time in Nebraska and Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mick moved to Silicon Valley after graduation to start his career and currently lives in Campbell with his wife and two children. Mick enjoys playing baseball and golf on the weekends, watching most college sports and NASCAR.


VP Membership -Nathan Lim

After attending several meetings in 2008,Nathan became a member in 2009 and is poised to become the Vice President of Membership. Nathan will be tasked with gaining exposure for the Palo Alto IMA Chapter via the Web and other means of communication. Nathan has created the LinkedIn group(Institute of Management Accountants Peninsula/Palo Alto Chapter) for members and professionals who are curious about the Palo Alto IMA Chapter. Nathan's career in Recruiting started in 2006 with Volt, staffing a variety of Marketing, Human Resources, Administrative, and Accounting positions.Due to Nathan's recruiting success he was promoted to Business Development Recruiter and was tasked with developing the Accounting Finance division in late 2007. Within the first 12 months Nathan had developed and grown the Accounting Finance business line for Volt by 50% through market penetration and exposure for the Volt Accounting Finance division. Nathan has supported the client efforts for Controller through Clerk Accounting support and continues to develop the division through innovation and market exposure. Some of Nathan's favorite outdoor activities are mountain biking, basketball,football,and rock climbing. Nathan is an avid motorcyclist and automotive enthusiast which feeds his need for speed.


VP Marketing and Communication -Tonia Bloom, CMA, CFM, MBA

Tonia originated from Illinois, but lived in Michigan, Arizona, and New Mexico before settling in the Silicon Valley. Tonia graduated from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, with a BS in Entrepreneurship. She then moved to Phoenix and attended Arizona State University, earning both an MBA and an MS in Accounting Info Systems. Tonia joined IMA while in college and earned her CMA in 1996 and CFM in 1997, while serving as an active member of the San Jose Chapter. For over 15 years, Tonia has held accounting and audit roles in public accounting, manufacturing and high-tech firms, and in local government, and she is an active CISA and California CPA. Tonia enjoy reading, camping, and hiking with her husband and their two dogs.


VP Professional Education-Sudha Chadalavada, CPA, CFE

Sudha has over fifteen years of experience in accounting and finance. Sudha also has served on the board's several non-profit educational associations including IMA Silicon Valley Chapter, IIA San Jose Chapter, and ISACA Silicon Valley Chapter aswell as a club and district officer of Toastmasters' International. During her tenure at at Silicon Valley Chapter of ISACA, Sudha conducted three major bay area conferences, the joint conference with IIA and winter conference of the chapter are still going strong year after year. During her presidency at Silicon Valley Chapter of IMA, Sudha conducted a multi-organizational, multi-track conference "Knowledge Synergized 2009" with a unique vision to bring together professional of various backgrounds and interest to a common platform, that drew over 150 attendees per day established itself strongly in the accounting and finance community. Sudha's vision for the chapter is to establish sustainable longstanding initiatives following the traditions of the Peninsula Palo Alto chapter. Sudha's goal for the chapter year is to revamp the marketing and registration process and there by increasing the chapter event attendance. Sudha is equally enthusiastic about her positive and supportive team at the chapter leadership along with her role at the chapter.


Director at Large-Ken Kobelynski, CPA, MBA

Ken is currently responsible for the FMN program at the Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. Ken brings over twenty years of controller-level experience ranging from $12B global manufacturing to small engineering companies. A Stanford MBA and active CPA, Ken has served as small business corporate controller for two five-year periods, survived the final five years of Solectron's existence as a long-term contractor, and in recent years morphed to a new career passion in External Reporting(with the business card tag, 'I will fill in the GAAPs for you!'). Ken and family have called Cupertino,their home town since 1992.


Director at Large-Steven Singh,CPA, CMA

Steven is currently responsible for the Excel Program at the Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. Steven Singh has been member of IMA since 2002. He has over 15 years of accounting and finance experience. Steven's wide range of industry experience includes manufacturing, software, defense and non-profit organizations. Steven currently consults through RHI along with his other clientele located in the bay area and San Diego of California. Steven is originally comes from Fiji Islands, where his career started as an auditor. Steven has a B.A. in Management and Economics from The University of the South Pacific; an M.A. in Accounting from The University of the New South Wales, Sydney Australia. Steven is a member of Australian Society of CPA and California Society of CPA. Steven is a CMA, and holds active Australian CPA license along with active California State CPA license.


Director at Large-Christian Lambacher, MBA

Christian Lambacher is currently responsible for the CMA certification program at the Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. Christian Lambacher has 12 years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis, Management Consulting, and International Sales & Marketing. He has gained extensive international experience on assignments in the U.S. and Germany, and on projects in Western Europe, Latin America Australia and New Zealand. Since having relocated to the Bay Area in Sept 2008, Christian has worked as a consultant and contractor for clients in the mobile communications and consumer electronics industries, currently at a Fortune 100 manufacturer of mobile devices. Christian earned his MBA in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Glendale, AZ, and a business degree from the University of Mannheim in Germany.
