IMA Peninsula Chapter Committee Leadership
Academic Relations Committee Chair - Carroll I. Buck, MBA, CMA
Carroll I. Buck is currently responsible for the Academic Relations at the Peninsula Palo
Alto Chapter of IMA. Carroll started his career as a submarine qualified sonar technician aboard the USS Finback SSN670. After
leaving the service he continued his education and received an MBA from the University of Maine. He is a Certified Management
Accountant. His first business experience was for Maine's second largest electric utility Bangor Hydro Electric Company in
various capacities from Assistant Division Manager through the Vice President level. He served as a Board Member of the Electric
Council of New England. He was President of his own construction company arranging financing and construction for housing,
apartments and condominium projects. During this period he developed a method of equity sharing of ownership interest for
individual homeowners. Carroll was a management consultant providing strategic management and cost evaluation and control services.
Carroll accepted a full time position at the University of Nevada,Reno as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in 1997 and
remained there until he accepted a full time Lecturer position at San Jose State in 2001 Professor Buck the Faculty Advisor
to the IMA student chapter at SJSU.

Audit Committee Chair - Karl Kneip, MBA, CMA
Advisory Committee Member
Karl Kneip is currently responsible for the Audit at the Peninsula chapter of IMA.
In the past Karl has served as a chapter President(1999 - 2000) and in other officer positions. Karl continues as permanent
leader with the chapter in his role as a member of Advisory Committee of the chapter. Karl has over twenty years of experience
in bio-tech/pharmaceutical industry accounting and forecasting R&D expenditures. Karl's current career emphasis has been on
contract accounting services for small pre-IPO companies. Karl has a BS in Accounting from Menlo College, MBA from Santa Clara
University and a CMA.

Certification Committee Chair - Perry Chin, CMA
Perry Chin is currently the instructor for the CMA certification program at the Peninsula Palo
Alto Chapter of IMA.
Perry is Director of Finance and Planning in Global Sales and Services for Sun Microsystems, a global computer hardware,
software and IT Services company with annual revenue in excess of $10 billion. His extensive worldwide business and financial
operational experience frequently attracts the most challenging assignments involving new business ventures, strategic alliances,
valuation analyses, and growth initiatives. During his tenure he has driven a revenue and profitability forecasting process,
spearheaded financial contract negotiations with major network computer OEMs and Services providers, and served as Software
division controller providing financial direction for R&D, marketing, sales and services, technology licensing and acquisitions.
Earlier, Perry had relocated to Singapore and established the company's first wholly-owned subsidiary in South Asia and launched
sites in Malaysia, Thailand and India, following upon his success in setting up Sun's operations in Brazil, Mexico, and
Venezuela. He also was Sun's Manager of Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis. Prior to joining Sun, he held financial
management positions at the Hewlett Packard Company, a global technology and services provider. Perry earned his MBA Finance
from the UC Berkeley, and is a CMA.

Certification Committee Member - Latane Garetson, Cost Accountant
Latane is the Certification Director at the IMA Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter He currently holds a Bachelor Degree in Finance with a Minor in Economics at San Jose State University. Latane recently started his career within one of the largest electrical contractor in the United States. His experience within multiple facets of accounting includes payables, contracts, receivables, and costing. Some say he is a jack of all trades with a huge upside. Latane feels that accuracy, and relationship building is the most important character traits to have in order to succeed at a high level. He is currently in the process of obtaining his CPA and CMA licenses.

Controllership Forum Committee Chair - AnaMaria Flores, CMA
Ana Maria is currently the Committee Chair for the Controllership Forum program at the
Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. Ana Maria has over 20 years of experience in financial planning and accounting,
including forecasting, manufacturing and product cost management. Ana Maria worked for Apple Computer in different
capacities ranging from financial analyst, finance manager to WW Product Cost Controller. During the last six years she
has been working in the bio-pharmaceutical industry as a Controller for mid size public and private companies. She has set
up all accounting and financial processes required to bring a pre-IPO company to a public status. She has implemented
accounting systems, Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance and product cost processes.

Ethics Program Committee Chair - Edwin Tan, Chartered Accountant
Edwin Tan is currently responsible for the Ethics Program at the Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. Edwin Tan, is a licensed
chartered accountant of England and Wales and has also passed the uniform Certified Public Accountant's
exam conducted in California in the year 1986. Edwin has over 30 years of experience in auditing, taxation, and company
restructuring experience. Edwin feels fortunate that in the early years of his career to work for a restructuring specialist
from PriceWaterhouse partner that later setup his chartered accountancy practice in London. Edwin is the restructuring specialist
for RHI for the past 7 years in various capacities including accounting manager through CFO position. Edwin's specialties include
restructuring, taxation, setting up new accounting system, and providing training/mentoring to finance staff. Prior to working
for RHI Edwin was the CFO/Controller for 'Cosdel Int'l Co Inc', a Foreign Freightforwarders and Customhouse Brokers located
in San Francisco for 15 years before that company was acquired by a New York Company.

Excel Program Committee Chair - Larry Moseley, MBA
Larry Moseley, MBA, is a CORPORATE FINANCE EXECUTIVE and CONSULTANT with a 30 year track record
with business startups through larger corporations as a senior financial executive. Working in the High Tech industry both as
an employee and as a consultant, he has learned to quickly assess the business requirements of employer or clients and to work
as a trusted and integral part of their senior management teams. For more information about Larry see his website at

Lotus123, SuperCalc, and Multiplan at local computer stores. Larry has used spreadsheets extensively in finance and
accounting since then. Larry also taught Microsoft Office at Heald College and Cost and Management accounting at Golden State
University. More recently Larry organized and taught excel classes for the IMA. See his website at

FMN Program Committee Chair - Kevin Shives, CPA
Kevin has over 17 years of experience in Bay Area business
where he held senior finance and management positions in high-tech companies. In his role at The Resultants, Kevin has
concentrated his efforts on providing our clients with highly effective and cost efficient solutions to the Sarbanes Oxley
(SOX) requirements. Since the SOX law was passed in 2002, Kevin has assembled and developed a team of dedicated professionals
who have successfully implemented sustainable SOX solutions at companies ranging in size from $25 Million to $1 Billion
market cap. Prior to his work with SOX and Internal Audit, Kevin has been a Controller, Revenue Manager, FP&A Manager,
external Auditor and a project manager for large-scale Oracle implementations. Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant
with a B.S. in Accounting from San Jose State University. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, AICPA and
California Society of CPAs.

Marketing Committee Co-Chair - Joseph Tran, Creative Services Specialist
Joseph Tran has worked for The Resultants, Inc. since 2007 in different capacities ranging
from SOX Internal Auditing to Creative Services Marketing and Web/Application development. He believes in clean, simple,
aesthetically pleasing design. Joseph received a BS in Business Administration from San Jose State University. Joseph also
enjoys photography, hiking, and spending time with his dog Milo |

Nominating Committee Chair - Beverly Givens, MBA
Beverly joined the IMA Peninsula Palo Alto
Chapter in 2010. She serves as a volunteer leader. Beverly is a financial management consultant with more than 17 years
of experience in general accounting, SOX compliance, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, and financial planning and
analysis in high technology companies ranging from startups to multinational corporations. Beverly worked with Oriki
Theater from 2002 to 2010 to stage an annual rites of passage program for African American teen males. Beverly has an
MBA, Stanford University; MA, Temple University; and BA, Southern University.

Students Matters Committee Chair - David Hughes, CMA, CFM
David Hughes is currently responsible for the Student Matters at the Peninsula chapter of IMA.
Dave has worked in corporate accounting for almost 30 years or so starting since April 1980. Dave
has been associated with the IMA off and on since 1983. Dave has been associated with Peninsula chapter leadership for
approx 7 years and his specific responsibility have been related to liaison of the SJSU student chapter. Dave loves working with the
students and the University, as he finds it invigorating to meet with and discuss the futures of these very talented and
focused students. Dave's specific advise for the students is -"Write your business plan for "Self" and make it happen!". "Perfection
is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence." Dave likes to paint, oils and watercolors, the stock
market and his dog....Codi, last but not least his wife, Lynn who inspires him every day and without her life would be unbearable he says!

Technical Meeting Committee Chair - Jerry Stern,CPA, MBA
Jerry is responsible for handling the event day logistics of the monthly technical meetings
for the Peninsula Palo Alto Chapter of IMA. Jerry has been associated with the IMA off and on since November 1990, when it was
known as the National Association of Accountants. He has been in corporate accounting and finance for over 25 years, and has
held hands-on management positions in a wide variety of industries including: financial services, brand marketing, business
analytics and construction/structural engineering. Jerry grew up in Southern California's San Fernando Valley, where he
started his career with a wholly owned subsidiary of Kaiser Holding Company. He has a BS in Accounting from California State
University, Northridge and an MBA in Finance from San Francisco State University. Jerry is a member of California Society
of CPAs, and holds an active California CPA license. He resides in San Mateo with his wife (Minee) and 11 year old
Pomeranian (Doree).
