IMA Announces 2010-2011 Chair-Elect
IMA is pleased to announce Brian L. McGuire, Ph.D., CMA, CPA, CBM, CITP as Chair-Elect for IMA's fiscal 2010-2011 period (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011).

March 11, 2010: Institute of Management Accountants Announces 91st Annual Conference & Exposition in Baltimore.

ICMA is now accepting registrations for Parts 1 and 2 of the new two-part CMA exam program and the Transition Exam.

On November 24, 2009, ICMA announced a change to the format and curriculum of the CMA exam program, beginning May 1, 2010.

Operating Board Roles and Responsibilities


IMA Peninsula Chapter- Operating Board of Directors, Roles and Responsibilities are identified in to 10 significant functions in accordance to the guidance provided by the National IMA's chapter administration manual. These areas are critical to the chapter's progress and function. The operating board is elected for a term beginning July 1 through June 30th which is the fiscal year. However; the elections will be conducted in the month of April and the incoming board will have planning meetings and related training between April through June to get ready to fully operate starting July 1st. Participating in the operating board activities is a excellent leadership training opportunity and the chapter hopes that members will take advantage. Below are the operating board's primary responsibilities.


(1)President
-Preside at all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board
-Supervise the board members, chapter matters, and ensure continuity of all aspects of chapter operations
-Execute the resolutions of the chapter board and enforce the chapter bylaws and chapter administration manual
-Appoint all standing committee chairpersons and other committees as authorized by the chapter board
-Represent the chapter at leadership conferences and functions, where appropriate
-Maintain communications with the national association of IMA
-Present an annual report to members at the annual general meeting
-Supervise budgetary matters and proper internal control of finances

(2)Vice-President
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of chapter administration
-Assist with and also substitute with presidential responsibilities, as required
-Perform the duties of the President in the event of his/her absence or disability
-Responsible for the review and update of the chapter's competition matters
-Work with the audit and finance committee and arrange for financial records audit
-Coordinate and oversee the development and implementation of chapter programs and activities

(3)Secretary
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board.
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of chapter administration
-Issue meeting notices for the chapter board and chapter.
-Manage the voting process for board and membership resolutions and submit the results
-Take minutes of the meetings of the chapter board, membership meetings, and annual general meeting, and maintain a copy of the records for at least five years.
-Function as chapter's historian
-Manage the legal affairs, chapter reports, and communications and correspondence pertaining to the chapter.
-Assist the President in the administration of chapter
-Assume presidential duties, in the absence of president and vice-president.

(4)Treasurer
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board.
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of chapter administration
-Be the custodian of chapter funds
-Receive and disburse such funds of the chapter as required in the conduct of its affairs and activities upon appropriate approvals
-Update and submit the financial written report to the board and chapter.
-Submit books and records for audit and file tax forms required on a timely basis
-Prepare an annual budget. Submit the budget to the chapter board for approval prior to the beginning of the fiscal year to which it is applicable.
-Apprise the chapter board and document the rationale of any potential deficit budget

(5)Director of Academics & Student Activities
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board.
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of academics and student activities
-Initiate, deploy and maintain educational projects upon board approval
-Direct the recruitment of student members
-Lead in the student chapter student chapters on campus
-Function as chapter liason with student members and student chapter activities
-Serve as liaison between IMA chapter and student chapter

(6)Director of Certification
- Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of membership matters
-Maintain resource material related to certifications and promote accreditation by conducting exam preparation/review sessions.
-Manage the logistics for the certification study groups and review courses
-Work with the chapter certification committee to promote certification continuing education (CPE) policy.
-Publicize the certification program within and outside the chapter.
-Provide feedback to the education department at IMA International HQ to assist in the enhancement of future editions of training certification study material and publications

(7)Director of Membership
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board.
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of membership matters
-Conduct annual membership campaign to maintain and increase chapter membership
-Report membership concerns to IMA membership department
-Ensure sufficient staffing in all committee activities
-implement surveys to identify membership needs and to improve member participation in chapter activities
-Contact non-renewing members to determine reasons for discontinuation and persuade individuals to renew membership
-Recommend and implement strategies for member retention
-Develop and implement a chapter membership award program for the chapter year

(8)Director of Marketing and Communication
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of marketing and communication
-Development and delivery of the chapter newsletters and updates to the chapter website
-Identify and use appropriate means of disseminating information about events and the chapter
-Manage all public relations and communication-related activities with membership and other professional organizations
-Conduct general marketing and publicity of the chapter for IMA initiatives and acquire any required marketing materials from IMA national

(9)Director of Professional Education)
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of professional education
-Supervise all the related educational committee and manage the chapter's programs
-Identify speakers and topics for the programs with help from the Education Committee
-Distribute and collect evaluation forms and compile results
-Maintain and update the program planner
-Ensure thank you notes are sent to the speakers and the attendees
-Provide biographical material of speakers for publication in the chapter marketing tools

(10)Director Employment and Special Activities
-Attend all meetings of the chapter and the chapter board
-Co-ordinate, support, and supervise the related committees of employment and special activities
-Ensure that the members and employers in the chapter area are kept informed as to availability of the chapter employment services
-Maintain up-to-date records of job applicants including their qualifications and salary requirements, and positions available, with job description and salary ranges
-Undertake a community service project for the fiscal year, plan and execute
-Develop and maintain a public relations plan for the fiscal year
-Undertake special projects as needed to contribute and maintain the chapter's competition status
